Microsoft Viva Topics for Faculty is an AI-powered solution that mines data stored in Sharepoint and automatically organizes content and expertise across systems and teams into “Topic Pages.” Experts can then further curate these pages to improve topic content. The goal is to elevate employee experience by reducing the amount of time they spend searching for information or attempting to contact subject matter experts. Users can create topics manually or AI can detect and generate topics automatically. To purchase Microsoft education SKUs, customers must meet the qualifications described in the Microsoft Qualified Education User Definition document. There are separate versions per country or region, and all can be found here. Once a topic is created, AI will update the topic and related resources as it discovers new information. For manually created topics, AI will attempt to add additional content based on the information that is already there. In addition, users can also manually update topic cards and pages to adjust the topic description or highlight new resources and connections. There’s no need to use a separate application or search function—knowledge simply finds the user in the apps that they are already in and using.
